Shedding an inch, or giving up yet again

Saturday, January 25, 2014 Posted by Alexander Lucas 1 comment
People around me seem to think it’s a piece of cake (no pun intended) for a fat guy like me to lose weight and I’ve been a bit of another opinion, without really trying to prove them or me wrong.

The main and only reason for this is that I am truly more lazy than one might think and just getting my ass out of the flat and to the gym is something that I can push up for another day without breaking a sweat when finding an excuse.

Now I was thinking about trying to give this a shot, and I know myself way better than to say a ”real” chance, as I might come up with an excuse to not go to the gym, or to cheat by eating pure junk food and drink a Red Bull or a soda or five.

I will be honest enough and write down everything that I eat and drink during the days/nights in this blog and I would love it to get input from you all, as I know a lot of you are way more into training and eating right than I am.

Comments about me being a fat lazy muppet is not needed as this is a well know fact already, but I would honestly love to get some feedback and tips on food, as this is something I will struggle with.

And one more thing I think I should add, I am not putting this up as something that will go on for months or so, unless I get hooked of course.

I intend to TRY and keep it up for a month at first as to see if I can get more motivated, or if it ends as it always does with me giving up after a couple of days.

As there is no scale that I can get my kilos down on I will not write down any kilos, but I will however write down some measurements and update them every Sunday with a total of 4 Sundays and see if 1 month can do any chance at all.

If you are not aware already I can inform you that I am working night shifts, and therefore my life is cordinated accordingly and I will try to come up with an ”ok” way to how I shall cordinate my food, if I care for this or just change the food itself and keep the schedule I have.

I will decide tomorrow when I wake up if I shall start then or as Gurra so nicely posted on Facebook, ”Start on Monday” J

As of now, I will eat the rest of my snickers and watch another episode of Mad Men as I am starting this out as to see if I like it or not.

Until the next time, enjoy yourself people.

Winter's coming...

Sunday, November 24, 2013 Posted by Alexander Lucas No comments
I have recently been playing a bit more online than live and funny enough online has been going ok, if you count the result, however it was all from one days grind almost, but it still feel like something I wish to keep playing, even though I know that as soon as I find it fun, the bad run comes.

Live poker has been a torture and the joy that I’ve had when playing live has totally gone out the window, I think it is mostly due to me playing only mtts live, and as we all know there is a fair bit of variance in mtts.

I have decided that my next visit to the casino will be a day where I will be playing cashgames, even if I play a small little mtt in the wait for cashgame tables opening up, as the goal will be to grind the cashgame.

What else is going on? Not much I must say, I’ve been back and forth in the question if I am to go back to Sweden for 1 week during Christmas or not, and as of yet I have not yet decided on what to do.

This is mainly due to the cost of traveling of course, however the idea of traveling to Munich or Frankfurt and spending a few hours on the airport there before switching flight is not exactly something that makes me jump and down of joy either.

I will however have to make up my mind as there is fewer flights that has seats available for each passing day.

Going home and meeting my family would be very nice though, especially as I have not been home for Christmas the last 2 years, as those has been spent down here in Malta, doing nothing at all.

We have the annual Christmas party with work on the 6th of December, and hopefully this year it will better organized than last year, which in my opinion was something not to be proud of.

Who knows, perhaps I might even drink some alcohol, even though I am working the day after the party.

I will try and make up my mind on the Christmas plans by the time the paycheck comes, and try getting my ass home and stuff my fat face with even more food, getting all that nice Christmas cooking as well as the awesome Swedish junk food, that is almost worth it by itself.

Until next time, enjoy life and have fun.

Hello again world.

Welcome to the jungle, we've got fun 'n' games...

Well that would be more in the line of what I like to say, but there is not that much fun and games at the moment.

Perhaps I should not say that there is not much going on, it’s the MLB playoffs going on as well as the NFL being in full bloom, so there is plenty of games to watch.

I have never before been a fan of baseball, but since I started working for a betting company this has changed, as I have had more interaction with the sport and the betting markets.
I have to say that I really enjoy the game and I've become a big fan of the Boston Red Sox.

Having them in the in the American League series final versus Detroit is exciting and fun, however I am truly impressed by how Detroit has started, even though I have to say that the end of game 2 was so great in the way Boston turned it around for a tied series and wow, in what a fashion, go check it out if you have not seen it.

No matter what, I admit that I have become a fan and I will be there from the start of next season to cheer and jinx bet when necessary, perhaps I need to place a few bucks on Detroit in the coming games as well just to help Boston even things out.

While talking about stuff that is not exactly going my way I can say that I am a NY Giants fan, which is NOT easy to admit a year like this.

Having Eli as the worst QB in the league and a defensive line that is stopping fewer approaches than the hookers close to Stratosphere in Las Vegas does not exactly help the cause.

And for me to have a bet with a friend, of which team to finish highest in the division of my Giants and his Cowboys… I think I’ll have to pay up.

Together with all this we have the Premier League, in which there has been an interesting start as a Liverpool supporter, now we just have to keep this up for a bit so that the players themselves start to believe it is possible to be up there and fight.

I have since my latest post here been writing a bit at 2 different places, however for some reason I still prefer to write in English in order to help improve my language skills, as well as I have more freedom in my writing as I am not only writing about poker, mostly because my poker has been lacking in both skill and the hours lately.

I will do a bit of thinking the coming week and make up my mind about where I would like to write, as it's just silly to move around like I've been doing.

Until my next post, have a great time and take some time off and enjoy yourselves.

Monday BBQ

Monday, February 04, 2013 Posted by Alexander Lucas 1 comment

As mentioned several times before I mostly write in Swedish now, but once in a while I will surprise you with an entry here just for kicks, or for being bored, whatever makes more sense at the time.

After  long week at work I rounded it off yesterday with the biggest night of the year, the Super Bowl.
The company bought some Chinese food and some pizzas, nothing that was very impressive, but I appreciate the gesture of which is was intended and it got us through the night.

Sadly the result of the final was not in the favor of the team I wanted to win and instead we got to see Baltimore Ravens take it down, and even though I am not impressed by the team itself I must admit that they impressed me yesterday, now that’s all I’m gonna say about that, fuck Ravens...

Today and tomorrow night I am off from work and I have plans to do as little as possible, just relax and enjoy the time off, so I decided to treat Stubben, Scott and Fjuno to some food this nice relaxing Monday.
After all we need to show Scott how we dine in Sweden, so I ordered a lot of stuff from Maltasupermarket.com and planned on delivery around 15.30 on Monday.

I got to bet after my shift at around 7.30-7.45 and was not jumping with joy when the phone rang and woke me up at 11.00 and it was from Maltasupermarket and they wanted to inform me that they were all out of fresh fillet steak and asked if I wanted frozen instead, which I did not want of course.

Instead I got my fat ass out of bed after the entire 3 ½ hours of sleep and ordered a taxi to take me to San Gwann and Chef’s Choice since I’ve heard good things about it, Mattias was already up and joined me.
Well there we found bull fillet and bought 1.4 kilos for 28 euros which I must say was a good price, and on the way back we stopped off at Subway to buy breakfast of course.

Back at the apartment there was about 1 hour to relax and watch some tv before the groceries arrived and me and Mattias got started with peeling and cutting up potatoes for the potato gratin, and making all other preparations.

Around 17.30 we fired up the oven and the barbeque and got started, and Fjuno joined us around 18.20, and around the time the food was about to be done we kicked on Scotts door to wake him up from his beauty sleep to make sure he got some food before he was gonna take off for work.

I think we all enjoyed the dinner and had a nice time chatting about everything and nothing, I have posted some pictures from the evening below if you would like to have a look.

Happy Holiday

Tuesday, December 25, 2012 Posted by Alexander Lucas No comments

So the holidays are here and everyone is in the spirit of Christmas, or so one would think.

I’m in Malta, and adapting the holiday spirit is pretty much impossible when there is 15-20 degrees outside during the days, and the days when the weather is bad there is 13-15 degrees and rain.

So no matter how many Christmas lights they place around the island there will still not be the correct setting for a true Christmas. And since I’ll be working on the 24th (the day we celebrate in Sweden) and the 25th (when they celebrate in Malta) it does not matter in the same way.

This is now the 2nd year in a row that I will be in Malta during Christmas and New Years and now that my brother has 2 sons I really feel that I want to be a part of next years Christmas, so unless I am in the States during that time I will make sure to be home in Sweden to take part and celebrate with the family, or at least be there to give the kinds some gifts, it is after all a time for the children.

For it to be a “real” Christmas I feel that I need the snow, and even though I would be pissed as hell at this point over all the snow if I were in Sweden I still feel like I miss the feel and sight of some white landscape with some lights during the evenings darkness.

At least I had a quick skype call with the family so I could wish them all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and always nice to see the nephews for a bit, and Viggo told me the 25th is his birthday and asked when I was coming home, which of course struck an emotional cold in this otherwise so cold body, and we’ll see how the future looks and if there is any flights suitable to book and go back for a bit.

I will spend my time at the office during the nights the coming 2 weeks, which in a way is not something I feel is bad either, since I do not have a staking deal set up (even though I got an interesting offer in the week) I will just be playing smaller 45man sit n goes when I’m off from work, but I still want to get back to the MTT grind, and if I’ll get the deal set up I’ll probably pick up some small pieces here and there and set up a real grinding station so to keep the max focus running all session long.

I guess a lot of people is looking to set goals and resolutions for the year 2013, but I have never really been a person that does that.

I have always had 1 set resolution and that is that I should have a happier, more fun year than the last, and I have to admit to myself that this has not been the case the last 2 years, of course this is all my own fault, and something I need to correct for the coming year.

There might be a few other goals that I am also thinking about setting up, and I will post them as soon as I have decided what they are, the only problem is that I am not a person that feel “bad” if I am not fulfilling any of the goals, I am not the person that feel like “I WILL DO THIS”, and have never been, I have always taken things the way they are and that’s it, but I guess that is due to the fact that I’ve not taken myself that serious overall.

Too many people take themselves way to seriously and feel they have to do certain things because it is expected of them and so on, I mean who the fuck would tell you what to do?

Think about yourself and your family first, and if you do not have time for anything else then do not even bother what anyone else think, and never ever feel the pressure to “have to” do something.

I will try and finish this shift off and the night has been long and boring as hell, glad I had Adam Carolla on the mp3 to keep me through the night, and I also railed -G- for a bit on his grind through skype, which is always fun.

We’ll see how the future looks and even though I have nothing to write about I will try and update at least once in a while, 1 month without a post is WAY to shitty, but I doubt there is anyone reading here anymore, I guess the few of you that read my blog will be reading the Swedish one.

If I come up with any resolutions for 2013 I will post them for you, so we all can break them together for moral support.

Take care and happy holidays people !
