Thursday to Sunday

Monday, October 29, 2012 Posted by Alexander Lucas No comments

So, a few days off from work at the end of last week and I decided to play some live poker at Portomaso Casino, I played a €35 buy in with a re-entry and a €110 buy in with a nice structure, I ended up in 4th in both of these and got a small profit, but the sad truth is that I should have won the €110 tournament easy once we were down to 6 players, considering the rest of the field was total droolers, but nothing to do about that now but to learn from my mistakes and be better next time.

I’ll try and play some live the next time I am off from work also, because I feel I need to get more play in before Battle of Malta, as well as there being great value of course.
I’ve also started out small online again and will do my best to keep it that way in order to build my way up without risking too much of my BR.

As mentioned before I’ve taken days off for the Battle of Malta, and will most likely (if possible) also take a few days off the week after as well since the Swedish Championship is running at Portomaso by then and a few friends will stay during that week as well.

The weekend has been a weekend of mixed emotions, first of all Liverpool got robbed of 3 points vs Everton due to a piss poor decision by the linesman waving offside, and after that Man U had the refs helping them on their way to yet another 3 points in a way that gets talked about in media.

After that I had to go to work and there I almost jumped from the balcony when Dallas almost beat out my NY Giants, but justice prevailed and Giants got the W and is looking good so far, even though they have tough games still to go.

I hope to have something more to write about in the coming weeks since I know have gotten more games going and have a few other ideas of what to do down here in Malta, and once Fjuno is coming down we’ll try and see a movie and I’ll let you know what I think.

For my next blog I will be posting a story, a story that can be a bit long, but it’s up to you if you want to read it or not of course.
It will be a story about 4 people that move abroad and the hijinks that ensues, a little text version of Big Brother if you so like.
The characters will be a fat lazy broke guy, a megalomaniac and his girlfriend, and a drunken gambler.

So until next time, take care and love is everywhere, as long as you are willing to pay for it.

What will be, will be

A short little update about recent events in Malta.

I applied for a backing deal and got in contact with a backer that has a really strong team and seem to be extremely good at what he do, sadly enough since I have a job that makes me unable to play more than on my days off (since this was a mtt deal, and mtts take time) he felt that the time I could play was not enough time, which I have full understanding for.

Always something in the way I guess, haha, but I am glad I have my job and should anything change in the future I will contact him again.

So that fell through and now I am back at my original plan to save up enough to start playing smaller buy in mtts myself and see if I can build my BR up again.

Other than that nothing has happened on my end, but Henrik and Maria will be moving back to Sweden for some reason, and Fjuno will be coming back to Malta again, and will join me and Degen in the apartment for the month of November.

And after that I will need to find another person to take over that room, since there is no chance I will share the rent on only 2 of us.

And after New Year Degen is also leaving Malta which puts me in yet another effing spot, having to find yet another person to take over the room, and if I am not able to do this and be forced to move, I will lose my deposit, and be forced to find a new place and move, which we all know is sooooo much fun, right...

I did at least sell off enough % for me to be able to play Battle of Malta, which I am really looking forward to, and the week after it will be the Swedish Championship down here in Malta, which I will not be able to participate in, I THINK, I am not yet sure.

It all depends on the schedule at work, I still have 3 days more that I have to take as days off before New Year since they are not transferable to 2013, which sucks, and there is no way to take these in cash as we can do in Sweden either.

So we just have to see what I will do, the good thing is that during late November there will be friends coming down to visit, which is nice, and a good reason to take some days off.

Anyways, until next time, take care.

Pizza? YES PLEASE !

Wednesday, October 17, 2012 Posted by Alexander Lucas No comments
It has now been a month since I left Sweden this time around, and as always there are certain food or drinks that you miss when away for a while, and as all of you that know me can figure out there is pizza I miss the most.

And when my best friend understood that I had these cravings without telling him he of course decided to torture me even more by sending me a picture of a pizza the other day. Thanks a lot for the one G... (picture below)

And when I got this I could not stop drooling and my mind went to all other good pizzas back in Sandviken, and the famous Swedish kebab pizza came to mind of course, a pizza that I truly feel could never be as good as it once was at Pizzeria Viking when we worked there about 10 years ago or something like that.

Now that I have drooled enough to wipe my face twice I will try and convince myself that there will be a time in the not too far future when I will have time off and visit Sandviken again and go bananas on the junk food that is offered there.

Until then I will have to do with the food that is found down here, which sadly I do not find is up to par.
Opening a Swedish pizzeria/kebab shop or Swedish household food I truly feel would be a good investment since this would be nothing like the stuff they have down here, and there is also plenty of Swedish people living down here who all miss the Swedish food in some instance or other.

When it comes to Malta otherwise there a still stuff that amazes me a bit, today for example I noticed the following note on a trash bin.

For now I will have to do with what I can find down here, and as soon as the domestic issue has been settled with all the kids in the flat I hope everything will be a bit better down here, since there at the moment is so much arguing and fighting between certain parties, which I think is a bit childish to be honest, but this is for them to settle, and I hope they find a solution that is good for us all.

I will probably post a blog in the future explaining everything that has happened down here, but for now I will keep it to myself in order to spare certain people.

Until the next post (which I hope will come up soon), have a nice day and have a pizza for me.

For those of you that has no clue how a good voice should sound.
If there is something that makes me impressed it is people that can sing really fucking good, and it is something I wish I could do myself.

But I can not... haha

Some thoughts, I guess

Thursday, October 11, 2012 Posted by Alexander Lucas 1 comment

Since most of you know I’ve busted my bankroll a while back and decided to find a job (which perhaps was in due time anyways) until I get on my feet with a stable bankroll that I feel is strong enough to handle big hits. During this time I will do my job and make sure I have the income to get by when it comes to bills and such boring stuff.

As all of you know I live in Malta and is working for a sports betting company as a customer care agent during night shifts aimed towards mostly Canadian players.
It’s a job I feel is going better and better for every day that goes by, mostly because I’m getting more into how things work and I find everything quicker and this makes my workload easier.
Even though the salary is somewhere between “not so good” and “you think I will work for this?” I still force myself to get out of bed at 21:40 every night in order to get to work.
I know, but I have to…

When it comes to poker there are a few things going on in my head.
The first thing is that I’ve made up my mind about never playing online cash games again (except perhaps some HU on Svenska Spel), and only focus my energy towards MTTs since I feel this is what I have the best clue on how to become a regular winner at.
It is also the only thing that I over the years have won money in, both online and live, so why not try and cut out some of the leaks I have?

So the plan is to study and when I can afford it, get a coach in order to get me going and to help me spot even more of the leaks I have, and I’ve already thought about getting buffyslayer1 to help me out unless I find someone else that I feel might be suitable of course.
How to build bankroll ?

Basically I am going to keep working a start out building through small buy in mtts and take it from there.

I plan on playing the €550 buy in tournament Battle of Malta in November
http://portomasocasino.com/events/battle-of-malta.aspx

I will either try and find a stake, or I will sell of some pieces since I at this moment do not feel I afford to put out €550.

During the same period (almost) there will also be the Swedish Championship here in Malta, with a buy in of €750 and this is nothing I plan on playing unless I’m off during those days and I sell a combined package with both tourneys.

There will also be the Israeli Championship down here if I’m not mistaken, and if there is one thing I would like to do it is to have a couple of buy ins for the cash game during that time, since last year was a big party of droolers competing in who could throw the most money away in the shortest time possible. And yes, the winner was from Israel, they like to gamble I guess.

I also heard that there will be a few friends from Sweden coming down in November, which is always nice, and I will try to make sure I have time off so I can join them for at least one meal or two while taking some about nothing and everything.

When it comes to our living arrangements I am starting to think about maybe find another place to live after this month, but we’ll see what I can find when I start looking around.
I also heard that Fjuno has put his apartment up for sale and he might be coming to Malta again.
Normally I would scream out loud with worry that he would bring bad luck and destroy everything, but since I’ve not had any luck at all since I came down here, Fjuno might be the reversed curse that will turn shit around, and make it smell again.

Until next time, take care and kiss a stranger

Working all nights

Monday, October 08, 2012 Posted by Alexander Lucas No comments
At this very moment there is a calm bit of time here at work and I'll take the chance to wriite a short update to the few of you that still look at this place.

I am sorry I have not posted in a long time, but days here are pretty much only sleeping and working as I've told you.

As soon as I can afford it I will buy a membership at a gym and go there and look at people working out while I eat a chocolate muffin in the jacuzzi.

Work is going better and better and I like the people I work with, all three of them are good carrots and as long as they do not hate me I think this will work just fine.

My work is pretty much me answering emails and taking care of chats and stuffing my face with red bull and muffins, not exactly the healthy period of time in my life that some people hoped this trip to be, but who knows, maybe I'll lose a pound or two if I get sick or something.

Me and Degen went to the movies the other day, and Total Recall was so boring that both of us fell asleep, but I'll go there soon again and hopefully see something a bit better.

Since I have not much to write about regarding my own life I might update you during the week with some football and movie talk, which is pretty much all I know.

I will also update if I manage to get a stake and can start playing MTTs again, but that does not look that promising at the moment.

So until then just take care of yourself.
